CLOCS-A Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Training

The CLOCS-A Standard sets out the minimum requirements for managing construction vehicle movements and ensuring safe interactions with other road users with the primary aim of managing the risks and impacts associated with a construction project’s on-road transport and logistics activities to improve community road safety.

As part of the CLOCS-A Standard, minimum training and competency requirements are specified for heavy vehicle drivers of construction vehicles to meet before the organisation (and project) they work for can gain accreditation to the CLOCS-A Standard. As part of these requirements, heavy vehicle drivers are required to complete training in and gain competency in “Vulnerable Road User Awareness”.

The VRU training program consists of three progressive levels:

  • Bronze,
  • Silver
  • Gold.

Completion of the VRU Bronze course is required before progressing to VRU Silver, which in turn is required before enrolling in VRU Gold.

Enrolment Instructions

Individual Enrolment

  1. Click the course name
  2. Click the Enrol/Login button.
  3. Complete the registration form to create an account or Log into your existing account.
  4. Select “Take this course”.
  5. You’re all set to begin the course!

Bulk Registration for Organisations

Organisations wishing to bulk register and enrol their drivers into the VRU courses can contact us at [email protected] for assistance.

To complete a bulk upload, please send us a CSV file containing each driver’s:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email Address

Once processed, drivers will automatically receive an email prompting them to reset their password and access their course. Instructions on how to access the course and reset passwords are provided at the start of each VRU module.

Alternative Registration Option

Organisations may also assign a staff member to manually register and enrol each driver. If using this method, we strongly recommend creating unique passwords for every driver. Shared passwords can trigger security blocks and prevent access to the course.

If drivers are completing the course on a shared computer, we also suggest using incognito mode to minimise browser‑stored data conflicts that may lead to temporary login blocks.
