Course Outline

Good strategy creates value for an organisation and its stakeholders. However, organisations operate in an increasingly turbulent and competitive environment, one that requires leaders to both develop and execute strategy as an interlinked and ongoing process. Strategy in Action addresses this imperative by moving well beyond traditional strategic planning.

Course Objectives

This course develops and demonstrates how a ‘logic of integration’ and a ‘logic of execution’ combine to deliver good strategy, irrespective of whether the organisation is run for profit, not for profit or as a public sector organisation. This leading edge course uses live case studies and extensive class interaction to enable participants to develop and execute business models that deliver performance.

Learning Outcomes

Through attending this course, you will be able to:

    • Discover new concepts such as the logic of integration and the logic of execution that characterise good strategy, and frameworks such as the Strategy Diamond and Strategy Mapping as well as their links to successful business models
    • Understand how different business models fit into corporate strategy
    • Explore the four stages of Strategic Conversations – Making Sense, Making Choices, Making Things Happen, Making Changes – and how these conversations can be used to facilitate good strategy
    • Develop their own strategic capabilities through hands on experience with live case studies
