Course Outline

This “Performance Based Standards Vehicles” program will examine the Productivity and Innovation Benefits of High Performance Vehicles using Australia and other international Case Studies.

Overview

In 1998 the then National Road Transport Commission introduced the concept of High Productivity Vehicles and from small beginning there are some 4,500 such vehicles operating in Australia. These vehicles are saving millions of kilometres and millions of litres of fuel.

HPVs have been adopted in the building and quarry industries as well as long distance road freight transport for over 20 commodity types. The safety benefits are saving more than 60% of major collisions.

Learning Outcomes

This course examines how:

  • Operators can integrate these vehicles into their fleets, as well as the best shaped networks that gives best productivity
  • The use of these vehicles in intermodal operations and water front applications, and
  • How productivity KPIs are calculated for the use of these vehicles.
