PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

OverviewThis course is aimed at providing an understanding of the role of contracting in the contemporary NSW public sector and government-owned corporations. This program improves participants’ contract management capabilities, leading to improved contractual outcomes for the agency and reduced costs through effective contract management. It focuses on the key skills necessary to ensure that contracts achieve successful outcomes.

Participants learn about and apply all key aspects of contemporary contract management, including legal issues, contract management planning, managing disputes and risk management. The program has a practical focus with participants practising in groups the techniques learnt in the program.

 

Who is it for?This course is ideal for participants seeking understanding of key principles to be considered when managing contracts in the public sector. The program provides essential information on the contract management life-cycle including consideration of procurement principles.

PresentersMichael French

 

Michael is a Principal and senior faculty member at AcademyGlobal with extensive experience as a Supply Chain Consultant across various industries including fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceutical, cosmetics, medical devices, infrastructure and aged care. With over 40 years’ experience, Michael began in chartered accounting before venturing into other industries. He has been in executive supply chain roles focused on integrating demand and supply to ensure customer requirements are achieved with very high service levels and at minimal cost.

 

Michael’s areas of expertise include supply chain management, project management, procurement, contract management and financial management.

 

Michael Lee

 

Michael is a Principal and senior faculty member at AcademyGlobal with a depth of senior executive experience in a top 50 ASX listed company. He has over 30 years’ experience across procurement, operations management and project management. He has built and led large teams through complex new operational initiatives and organisation restructures delivering significant bottom line results. In addition to his senior executive roles in the oil and gas industries, Michael’s earlier career was with NSW Government as a project engineer.

 

Michael’s areas of expertise include project management, procurement and contract management and financial management. He teaches the accredited intermediate and Advanced Diploma of Procurement and Contracting for NSW and QLD government procurement professionals, as well as postgraduate courses in Procurement and Supply Chain Management at Western Sydney University. Michael is a member of the Institute of Public Administration, Australia (NSW).

 

Paul Vorbach

 

Paul is a Director and senior faculty member at AcademyGlobal, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Technology Sydney Faculty of Law.

 

With a background in executive management in multinational commercial firms, including Deloitte (Senior Manager) and Citi (VP and Director), Paul has 25 years experience across consulting, financial services and management education industries.

 

Having conducted assignments in 20 countries on 5 continents, Paul has partnered with leaders in commerce, academia, government and the not-for-profit sector to provide programs that address their key organisational challenges and opportunities. He works with clients in the area of capability strategy, training needs analysis, program design and course delivery. His areas of expertise include: finance, procurement, risk management, turnaround and restructuring.
